XFCE, and desktop simplicity

XFCE and a simple computing desktop. http://www.xfce.org

Well met,

I'm always on the quest for a comfortable and productive desktop experience. That quest has led from bare X11, through Gnome, KDE, back to Gnome for work, Gnome changed and become uncomfortable, back to KDE, and now XFCE. XFCE is simple, which is sweet. But, doing software development I like to have terminal tabs on the bottom, browser tabs on the top and the browser sized to allow display of the terminal tabs. The only console app that I've found with tabs on the bottom is KDE's konsole. So, it's XFCE, Opera and konsole now. No muss, no fuss, which means more fun and I recommend people try XFCE and konsole with bottom tabs. Opera as the browser is just a given.

Configure a single panel on the bottom with all the goodies, and life is good.

GNU/Linux is so awesome. Mixing Qt with GTK and no problems.

Cheers,
Brian
